Rainer Köhler
Trombone player
Rainer Köhler
At Sound of Brass since March 2018
Good morning,
I was born in 1959 in Hagen.
At the age of 12 I started to learn playing the trombone.
My teachers were first F. Kern and P. Hansen, trombonists at the Municipal Orchestra in Hagen.
Then over many years the trombone choir of the Matthäus parish in Hagen was my musical home.
Here, music from the Renaissance was cultivated on historical instruments.
In addition, my musical passion is jazz.
To this day I am particularly impressed by the jazz trombonist
Albert Mangelsdorff.
Today I play bass trombone in the trombone choir Hagen-Dahl
as well as tenor trombone in the big band and the orchestra of the Max-Reger music school in Hagen.
